Many parents wish to welcome their new baby and announce their name. It is an opportunity to invite friends and family to gather and witness the promises that are being made and for others to pledge support to the child to. Lockdown has meant that this has not been possible for many children but now is the time to gather friends and family and welcome the newest member of the wider family. A Naming ceremony offers an alternative to a Baptism, where the child is welcomed into the church, as it the ceremony is designed to welcome the child into the family.
